UX/UI Designer + Development Specialist

SWBC Investment Advisory Services

Austin | 2012-2017

In my role as the sole designer/development specialist in our company, I saw a need for a UX program to address issues with client management, risk mitigation, and to streamline asset management and client services. I created and implemented the UX program within SWBC IAS, which provides investment advisory services for retirement plans. My flagship project was building a web-based recordkeeping application for over 4,000 clients that represented over $5bn in assets under management. This app replaced an outdated and bloated manual system for processing and approving paperwork and managing client accounts, and remedied significant quality control and risk management issues.

My process involved working with a PM and a developer to conduct extensive user research and testing, task and process flows and optimization, and information architecture. After 12 months in use, the application had reduced average time spent per client from 3 hours to 30 minutes, with an increase in processing accuracy from 96.3% to 99.8%.

Other notable projects included designing all client- and prospect-facing materials and presentations, as well as building a series of web-based apps to predict how adjusting different factors can affect retirement savings over time. I worked daily with the CEO, VPs, and colleagues/clients located across the country, and have experience hiring and managing personnel.

Art Direction: Primary art director for Applebee’s, responsible for design of all in-store, outdoor, direct marketing, and POP advertising from concept through final studio production. Loyalty program design & implementation resulted in beverage sales increase of 30% over a one year period. Led campaign presentations; designed promotional & loyalty programs; coordinated with remote TV/radio teams & producers; created shot books and timelines for photo shoots; led photographer and prop selection; and oversaw studio production artists. Also created and developed sales presentation materials.

User Research: Spearheaded extensive needfinding, market research, and user research on campaigns and immersive user and consumer experiences; led empathy mapping and needfinding sessions; and conducted and analyzed the findings of market and product tests.
